would a 351w or 351 cleveland work in a 2001 mustang v6? & if so, what about the ECU that would work with it?

Answer 1 :
a 351 Windsor engine would yes, that is a standard small block like a 302 or 289. A 351 Cleveland would BUT it would be a very hard project to complete because everything is bigger and wider, heads, block, bellhousing ect. it would be MUCH MUCH easier to put a carb on it than to try to wire it up, im sure they make harnesses for that swap or you may be able to find a 94 or 95 gt harness, i believe they had the 302 FI. Eddlebrock makes a set of Clevland heads for a standard Windsor block to add more hp.
Answer 2 :
it depends on how much work and customizing youre willing to do. a 460 will technically fit even. the only engines that would be bigger and still meet emissions checks though are the modulars (4.6 and 5.4) if youre willing to do a bit of custom work and emissions arent an issue, then you can get whatever engine you want, put it in there, and adapt a mustang mass air computer (a9l generally) with a tweecer tuner, modify a carb intake for injectors, and get even a 460 bored and stroked to 557 to work.
