My new fuel pump for my 1973 Mustang 351 Cleveland does not work when installed?
I''ve installed a new fuel pump in my 351 cleveland but it does not push fuel out (there is fuel at the inlet). I think theres a problem lining up to the camshaft, anyideas?

Have you tried tapping the engine around a little at a time with the starter and then reinserting the pump lever? Maybe when you removed the old pump, the pump lever happened to be in a bad position.

Hi there are a couple of things you need to make sure is right. 1) you have the right fuel pump,I am not being a smart ..... reason being the length of the actuator arm is very important . 2) Was the old fuel pump working all right before you changed it? why was it changed? was it leaking? if the answer is yes to all of the above, then I think you have the wrong pump. 3) Was it fitted propely? you might not have done it right. The best thing to do would be to remove the pump and check and make sure it is the right one to start off with. Good luck...... ASH

make sure the arm on the fuel pump is under the cam lobe.if iam not mistaken, they run off the cam lobe instead of a push rod.

you need to pull irt back of and see if you bent or broke the pump lever. sounds like it went over the cam sprocket. if i did not then when you put it on try to lift the bottom of it gently then slide it in slowly you will feel the ca this way as it will be hard to lift it in place as there will be a slight pressure on it. when you get it bolted back down it sholuld work. or you can buy a afermarket electric punp.
